Detailed Description
The Bagru Textile Printing Centre, located near Jaipur, is the heartbeat of Rajasthan’s centuries- old block printing tradition. Bagru, a small town just 30 km from Jaipur, is globally renowned for its eco-friendly and natural dye block printing techniques. Here, visitors can witness artisans crafting exquisite patterns using hand-carved wooden blocks and natural dyes derived from plants, minerals, and vegetables.
The process begins with washing and treating the fabric with Fuller's Earth to ensure vibrant colors. Artisans then meticulously stamp intricate designs onto the fabric using wooden blocks, each representing a unique pattern passed down through generations. The dyed and printed fabrics are dried in the sun, giving them their characteristic earthy charm.
The center also offers hands-on workshops where visitors can try their hand at block printing and learn about the history of this craft. From bed linens to sarees, the products crafted here are not just textiles but pieces of art, each telling a story of heritage and craftsmanship.
